2024 Mililani High School Curriculum Fair

Description: Sustainable Food Systems is a solutions-based science elective.  In this course, we actively seek solutions for the fact that Hawaiʻi imports more than 90% of our food.  If our infrastructure falls apart as we have experienced during the global pandemic and the devastating Lāhainā fires, how will the people of our islands feed ourselves?  Throughout the year, we will examine the statement: “If we get food right, we get everything right.” Can transforming our food system (the way we grow, distribute, process, access, consume, and dispose of food) help solve issues related to hunger, disease, and even climate change?  Join this session to find out how.
